Photographic Skills

Which of the following photographic features/equipment have you used on a camera before:

Manual Focus features	X		I used the manual focus features whilst taking pictures outdoors at different angles. I used these features to get the best picture possible. These pictures can be found on my online blog.
Shutter Speed	X		We used the shutter speed setting whilst taking photos of movement. We took multiple photos of our attempts and many of the photographs look of a good standard.
Aperture control	X		I have used the aperture control. When taking photos outdoor I changed it so I could control the amount of light that I allowed to go into the camera. It also controls the depth of field, the lower the F-number, the shallower the depth of field
ISO Control	X		I have used this whilst taking photos outdoors as I wanted to change the light response on the camera. I did this by raising the ISO
A tripod	X		I used a tripod whilst taking my photo shoot pictures, as I wanted to get a still image. I could easily use my bare hands to take the photograph, but to ensure the highest quality of the photo I included the use of a tripod.
External flash	X		I used the external flash whilst taking my front cover and DPS photographs.
Self timer facility	X		I have used the self-timer facility whilst taking photos that include myself in them. I have done this outside of class, for example when taking a family photo I have set the camera onto the self-timer facility mode.
Light meter		X	I did not use a lighter meter whilst working through the course.
Composition grids	X		I have used composition grids while taking photos outdoor during a lesson. I used these grids to make sure everything that I wanted in my shot, was in.

Photoshop Skills

Which of the following features of Photoshop have you used before:

Text control	X		I have used the text tool a lot as I have inserted high amounts of text into Photoshop on multiple occasions.
Filters	X		I have used filters on many of my photo when editing. For example the watercolour filter is a filter which I have used in the past for editing my photos.
Brushes	X		I have used and downloaded many brushes in Photoshop. On my blog there is a Christmas Card which I designed from scratch. This card includes a brush which I had downloaded from the internet.
Layers	X		I have used an uncountable amount of layers through my time on Photoshop. In my experience I have learnt how to edit layers, for example placing one layer on top of another, causing the layers to be under or on top of each other.
Opacity control	X		I have used this in the past whilst editing on Photoshop. I was making objects more see through.
Shape creation	X		I used shape creation on my front cover for my DPS. I inserted a circular shape, which I then placed text into.
Brightness and contrast control	X		I also used the brightness and contrast control when editing my front cover and DPS. I lowered the brightness and contrast as I wanted a darker looking image for my final product.
Gradients	X		I edited the gradient when I was experimenting with the colour on my front cover of my magazine
Load selection features	X		I used this when editing multiple words one at a time whilst editing my front cover.
Feathering	X		I used this when I was making an object look smoother when working on my front cover for my magazine
Colour curves adjustment			I used this when editing my cross processing image
Resolution setting control	X		I used this whilst setting up my page documents each time I went onto Photoshop and created a new page
Magnetic lasso, polygon lasso tool	X		I used the lasso tool when I wanted to select a certain area on my front cover, which I wanted to delete.
Cropping tool			I used the cropping tool whilst working on my front cover. I cropped some of the corners out of the shot, as I felt that I did not need this blank space in my product.
Clone tool			When working on Zoe, making her face look better, I used the clone tool to clone the nicer parts of her skin, to then paste over her not so nice parts.

In Design Skills

Which of the following features of In Design have you used before:

Have you ever used In design ever before?	X		Yes, while creating and editing my DPS I used InDesign to a great extent and detail.
Margin and column guide creation	X		When creating my DPS I had to select the correct margin and column sizes for the job. I did this at the start of the creation process as without the correct page sizes, your product may be over and undersized.
Inserting an image ID	X		I inserted the image, which I took in my booked photo shoot and placed it into InDesign. This was a challenge as because I have not had any experience using InDesign before, placing the image in the correct place was a task.
Resizing images in ID	X		I resized my image many times while on InDesign. After a few trial and errors I got the desired size which I wanted.
Text manipulation – resizing, rotation			I used this when editing my text size and placing on my DPS
Text manipulation – controlling kerning and leading			I used text changing on a more than often basis though the process of my front cover. I used this whilst creating my drop cap on InDesign
Text flow creation		X
Using transparent imagery in ID
Shape/line creation In design	X		I used this whilst creating my DPS in InDesign, I added various shapes to experiment with the structure of my work
Exporting to PDF from In-design	X		I exported PDF when uploading my final product.
