Good+Bad Points Of My DPS Creation

Here is the picture I chose to use on my double page spread.
As you can see I made a rookie mistake of taking the picture portrait instead of landscape. This caused some confusion, but with the Photoshop skills I have learnt I was able to change this image to landscape when I placed it into InDesign. I think the lighting on this shot is perfect. Not too dark, but not too light. Jack and Louis' face's are both lighted up to the amount I wanted. Also with the body of the guitar being Black along with the background I think this looks great as the neck and head of the guitar are easily visible, but you have to look in closer detail to see the body. I didn't want Louis standing up as from previous photo I saw that his stance/pose was not a great one. Therefore I used the surroundings to improvise and got him to sit on a 3 step ladder. Apart from the image being in portrait, I think this photo was perfect for the DPS.

The image below is one of the multiple attempts where I tried to capture the perfect image. As you can see this picture is actually in landscape, but, the lighting is too strong and Jack isn't even looking at the camera. This photo was a no straight away due to the lighting and Jack not looking into the camera as he was told. Also I have taken the picture way too close to the models as the bottom half of their bodies have been cut out, making the image look amateur.

Here is another example of where my DPS picture went wrong. I have clearly got way too close to the models and have cut out 3/4 of their bodies. This picture was taken before I chose to add the guitar, so I was asking the models to try different poses. For example jack to scrunch up his forehead and for Louis to have his glasses on/off. This was
useful as I got to see what looked best.
